WHAT MATTERS

Magic Eden Introduces $ME Token

Magic Eden

State of play: Magic Eden (ME) will adopt $ME as its official ecosystem token, serving as an incentive as the platform expands into mobile dApps.

  • $ME tokens will enable cross-chain trading on the Solana-based Magic Eden platform.

  • $ME tokens will be integrated into third-party protocols and dApps as interest in NFTs and Bitcoin-based Runes increases.

  • The token's launch date is unclear, but the ME Foundation announced it will be available via the Magic Eden desktop and mobile wallet.

Why it Matters: Magic Eden has surpassed $6B in trading volume, representing 60% of all NFT revenue and 80% of Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes trading volume.

For builders and investors: Tokens are superpowers. OpenSea missed its chance and got butchered by Blur. Magic Eden is smart and realizes the importance of having tokens.

INSIGHTS

Monad vs MegaETH - Full Nodes Debate

Credits to 0xalank for the original commentary

State of play: 0xalank criticizes a recent Bankless podcast discussing Monad vs. MegaETH, highlighting misconceptions about scalability and censorship resistance in L2 solutions.

  • He argues that the debate on full nodes was flawed, with Keone Hon correctly defining a full node while Lei Yang confused it with a snap sync definition.

  • 0xalank agrees with points made about latency improvements in L2s due to centralized sequencers but believes the MegaETH team overemphasizes propagation latency while neglecting bandwidth.

  • 0xalank questions the practicality of MegaETH's claim that Raspberry Pi verifiers can handle fraud proofs at 100,000 TPS, pointing out that data constraints would exceed the 7-day fraud-proof window.

  • He emphasizes the importance of realistic benchmarks and encourages more industry-wide discussions on technical challenges while noting that meaningful debates require actual code and testing.
