$WORLD Raises $135M | Crypto Perpetual in the US

📢 Sponsor | 💡 Telegram | 📰 Past Editions
Good Morning.
GENIUS bill passed, and we’ll see a slew of new stablecoins, but some skeptics like JPM still argues that they don’t think we’ll see the trillions being touted by others in the space. Meanwhile, Cetus protocol on Sui got exploited, with the hackers potentially being stopped by the Sui foundation themselves.

WHAT MATTERS
US Megabanks Explore Joint Stablecoin

Source: Visual Capitalist
State of play: JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, and other major US banks are in discussions about launching a joint stablecoin through entities they co-own, such as The Clearing House and Zelle’s parent company, Early Warning Services.
The talks remain preliminary and are closely tied to the outcome of US stablecoin legislation.
Progress on the GENIUS Act could determine whether the consortium moves forward.
This signals growing institutional interest in regulated digital dollar infrastructure.
What’s next: If the GENIUS Act passes with clear regulatory frameworks, it could pave the way for a jointly issued, fully compliant stablecoin backed by US financial giants.
For builders and investors: It’s about finding your own edge in the stablecoin game.
The issuance space is clearly extremely competitive, what’s your unique flow?
The aggregation space is interesting, but how are you acquiring distribution?
The settlement space might be fragmented itself, how do you stand out?

State of play: CFTC Commissioner Summer Mersinger said crypto perpetual futures could soon go live in the US, noting it would be beneficial to bring this trading back onshore.
Futures trading across all crypto generated nearly $3.7T in volume last month.
Mersinger, who will step down on May 30 to lead the Blockchain Association, has advocated for clear digital asset regulation.
The announcement caused Hyperliquid’s HYPE token to spike, reflecting market optimism about US support for perpetual products.
